A note from our Founders
Hi and welcome! We're Kate and Steph, the duo behind Psyched to Climb. We believe climbing, has a way of teaching us mindfulness, resilience, trust, and communication.
As a climbing instructor and mindfulness and meditation coach, I (Steph) have helped people transform their climbing through understanding their minds and cultivating increased awareness with their breathe and body. I'm here to support you every step of the way, whether you are struggling with fear or you're looking to gain a deeper connection with your climbing.
As a licensed psychologist, I (Kate) am committed to creating a therapeutic climbing space where you can explore
emotional embodiment and find new ways to engage with familiar problems. Together we will gain insights and build tools
to help you thrive.
Rock on,
Kate and Steph

WHY CLIMBING?
Climbing provides a unique combination of physical, mental, and emotional challenges we can grow in as we learn to train our minds and cultivate awareness, balance, and resilience. Climbing reveals patterns on the wall that often show up similarly in our daily lives. Through climbing therapy and mental training, we can practice noticing and changing our automatic thoughts and reactions and help cultivate your growth.
Climbing provides a unique space for benefits like:
Mindfulness and Flow States: The focus required for climbing naturally promotes mindfulness, helping individuals stay present and experience flow states.
Building Resilience and Tolerance: Climbing involves facing and overcoming fears and challenges, building emotional resilience, and developing more tolerance for discomfort.
Promoting Acceptance and Growth: The climbing process encourages accepting our abilities and limitations while striving for growth and improvement.
Strengthening Communication and Trust: Climbing well with others requires clear communication, cooperation, and trust, enhancing our interpersonal skills.
Learning from Failure: Climbing teaches us to embrace failure as a learning opportunity, fostering resilience and a growth mindset.
Boosting Dopamine: The physical exertion and accomplishment involved in climbing increases dopamine levels, a neurotransmitter associated with mood regulation, motivation, and executive function.
Climbers have long appreciated the unique physical, mental, and social aspects of climbing, and now research supports many of these claims. While much of the climbing therapy research has been done in gyms, research in other areas of adventure therapy shows the therapeutic power of being in nature. At Psyched to Climb, we offer both indoor and outdoor climbing opportunities, tailored to each group and individual's needs (and our weather).
